The resistance temperature coefficient of silicon molybdenum rods is larger than that of general electric heating elements. At room temperature, the resistance value is very small. If high voltage is applied, a large current will be generated and burn out the silicon molybdenum rod. As the temperature increases, the resistance of the silicon molybdenum rod heating element rapidly increases with rising temperature, allowing for higher voltage application. Therefore, the voltage for silicon molybdenum rod heating is generally supplied through a step-down transformer to protect the silicon molybdenum rod from damage.
Silicon molybdenum rod products can operate in various atmospheres, including air, nitrogen, hydrogen, ammonia decomposition gas (nitrogen-hydrogen mixture), and inert gases.Silicon molybdenum rod heating elements are very brittle at room temperature but become plastic at high temperatures. Vertical suspension installation helps avoid mechanical stress on the heating end of the element, preventing deformation and reducing the risk of fracture.
